£1 million find on Antiques Roadshow
Tonight’s edition of the Antiques Roadshow has footage of the first ever object to be valued by the show’s experts at £1 million. Exactly what the item is is being kept a closely guarded secret until the show airs at 7.15pm on BBC1.
According to the BBC, fine art expert Philip Mould made the find and broke the news to the owner during recording of the show at The Sage in Gateshead. Although the owner knew it was valuable, they were still left shocked apparently.
Despite its massive valuation, the owner has said they are unlikely to sell the item.
Mr Mould said, “It’s a great thrill to me that something produced in the last 15 years has broken the record for the most valuable item to ever have been on the show.”
The show’s most expensive valuation before this item had been a collection of silverware which appeared in 2007.
The Antiques Roadshow has seen recovery in viewing figures recently with nearly nine million now tuning in on a Sunday evening since Fiona Bruce took over earlier this year.
