2013 Daytime Emmy Awards: The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Sesame Street big winners of the night
Last night, the gongs at the Daytime Emmy Creative Arts Awards were handed out in Los Angeles and The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Sesame Street were the big winners of the evening.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Sesame Street took six awards each on the night.
The Ellen DeGeneres show took home craft and technical awards along with Outstand Direction in a Talk Show/Morning Program, Outstanding Achievement in Lighting Direction and Outstanding Special Class Writing.
Sesame Street on the other hand took the award for best preschool program as well as writing and directing for a children’s program. Kevin Clash, who left the show last year after more than 20 years as the beloved Elmo character took the award for Performer in a Children’s Program.
Children’s animation program awards went to Kung Fu Panda: Children of Awesomeness and the Hb prevailed in the children’s program category with R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour.
Meanwhile Judge Judy took the award for legals/courtroom program.
The Beauty Inside took the award for Best New Approaches and the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards campaign allowed Nickelodeon take home the award for Outstanding Promotional Announcement.
The UK’s very own David Tennant was also a winner as he took home the away for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for his role as Huyang in Star Wars: The Clone Ward for Cartoon Network.
All in all, CBS and PBS won 13 awards, followed by syndicated programs with nine and the Hub and Nickelodeon taking seven each. The Young and Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful took home five wins each for CBS.
