Australian rockers 5 Seconds of Summer are back in the UK and earlier this week they took to the stage at the Roundhouse in London for their headline set at the iTunes Festival.
Their appearances won’t stop there though and after doing various radio interviews and music promotion, the band will also perform on BBC One tomorrow night as ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns for a new series.
The new series of of the dance competition launches on the 7th September and 5 Seconds of Summer will join a list of performers who will help open things with a bang.
The BBC have confirmed that Smokey Robinson and Imelda May will also perform as the show introduces the fifteen contestants and their professional dancers.
5SOS confirmed the news on Twitter and said: “were gonna be performing Amnesia on @bbcstrictly, you can watch us on Sunday if you like 😁 the EP is out this wkend ! http://po.st/s32NDt”
The Australian heartthrobs have thousands upon thousands of female fans and it appears that they can be quite distracting while the band are trying to perform.
Speaking with the Metro Michael Clifford, guitarist for the band revealed that there have been times where they have forgotten lyrics because of girls in the crowd.
“We have definitely forgotten the lyrics before. It’s really embarrassing because you’ll be singing the words and then you’ll see [a hot girl]. It’s like, ‘Oh, you’re are so attractive’.”
Clifford also admitted that he doesn’t think their band is very special (has he heard himself play?!) and admitted that the fame things still surprises him. He added:
“The whole fame aspect and stuff like that…ultimately we are just a pop-rock band who play music. We’re nothing special, we’re just dudes, and I think that’s the difference between us and other people.”
