A new Inbetweeners movie WILL go ahead in America – but will it be pants?

As fans of The Inbetweeners will most likely know, the hit comedy has been remade in the States and will premiere on MTV on August 20th.

However, it’s been revealed today that the show’s bosses are so certain the remake will be a hit with viewers, they’re planning a spin-off movie version, which of course mirrors the UK version.

In the UK film, the show’s characters went on holiday to Greece, and while the US movie version will be “inspired” by the British film, it may not even star the US cast members.

The US series stars Joey Pollari as Will McKenzie, Bubba Lewis as Simon Cooper, Zack Pearlman as Jay Cartwright and Mark L. Young as Neil Sutherland…

However, The Inbetweeners UK film is set to premiere in cinemas in America as of September 7th, and while it was a box office hit here, grossing more than £45m at the box office last year, making it the most successful British comedy to date, it could well fail rather epically in the wake of the US TV version.

Personally, I rarely find US remakes are as good as the UK originals, and I think the reason for that is that British humour just does not travel well. What do you think? Can the new Inbetweeners series and movie possibly hope to better – or be as good as – our homegrown version?

While you’re mulling that over, here’s a clip of the US cast talking about the show…
