A new movie about killer Squirrels could be the next cult hit – you probably won’t look at them the same way again
Do you ever read something and then check your calendar just to make sure it’s not April 1st? We can definitely confirm it’s not April Fools’ Day and no you don’t need to pinch yourself, you’re not dreaming.
A horror movie which focuses around killer Squirrels is being dubbed as the next big cult hit following the release of Sharknado earlier this year.
According to Bleeding Cool the film focuses around a young man who returns home to uncover the mystery surrounding the death of his father.
The full plot for the movie which is called being called ‘Squirrels’ can be seen below
When a young man’s estranged father is killed under suspicious circumstances, he returns home for the first time in years to get to the bottom of the mystery.
Hoping to uncover some logical explanation, he instead finds his mum’s sleazy new boyfriend, a natural gas company buying up the town, an angry female sheriff who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, and an army of flesh-eating squirrels hellbent on destroying everything in their path due to an erosion of their food chain as a result of environmental destruction by the gas company.
Russian-Kazakh director who worked on the Angelina Jolie hit Wanted is working on raising funds for the film and the movie is set to be directed by Ethan Maniquis who has worked on the likes of Sin City.
A promo image has been released which features the tag line “hold on to your nuts” and shows a Squirrel eating away at a severed finger.
Many are dubbing this as the follow up after Sharknado was so successful. Sharknado which scored a 3.6 on IMDB became a viral hit after being aired on TV earlier this year. The movie follows the aftermath after a freak hurricane engulfs Los Angeles. Sharks, natures deadliest killers rule the land, sea and air as thousands of the giants terrorize the water logged area.
The movie which went straight to a TV release ( says something surely ) was written by Thunder Levin and was directed by Anthony C. Ferrante and I can only assume that others are guessing this is the next Sharknado following the promo trailer that was released earlier today.
You can view the trailer below but we have to advise you that not all Squirrels are dangerous, they asked us to tell you that and they really don’t like being thrown around.
This is a pre-production trailer because as we said earlier funds are still being raised for the film so this is just a taster of what you could expect.
