Ade Edmondson and the 80’s Super Group reach final of Let’s Dance For Comic Relief

Ade Edmonson and 80’s Super Group – Toyah Willcox, Limahl, Clare Grogan and Chesney Hawkes have hot footed their way straight into the final of Let’s Dance For… Comic Relief next week, following their unforgettable performances in the third heat of the series.

Presenters Alex Jones and Steve Jones announced that the viewers had chosen Ade Edmondson as their favourite, the fifth act to win a place in the final next week on Saturday 12th March after performing an emotional rendition of The Dying Swan, from the classic ballet Swan Lake.

On securing the viewers’ vote to take him through to the final, Ade commented “It makes me very nervous and humble.” adding, “I’m really just worried about whether Rik’s (Mayall) going to find out where I am next week.”

Panellist John Bishop said “You made Natalie Portman in the film Black Swan look like Anne Widdecombe, you nailed it.”

Jo Brand said “Really, really moving, that nearly turned me into a proper woman.”

And Felix Dexter added, “I felt like I was watching a great ballerina, superb, breath taking.”

Runners up Joe Swash and Caroline Flack alongside the 80’s Super Group then faced the three panellists – John Bishop, Jo Brand and Felix Dexter – who decided which act would win the sixth place in the final after their performances of My Humps, Black Eyed Peas and Greased Lightning from the film Grease respectively.

Panellist John Bishop voted for the 80’s Super Group, Jo Brand voted for Joe and Caroline leaving Felix Dexter with the deciding vote which he cast the 80’s Super Group automatically putting them through into the last remaining place in the final.

The 80’s Super Group gave a united, “Fabulous.” on confirming their place in the final, with Chesney adding, “We’re totally in shock to be honest with you.”

A relieved Joe said “I think I’d have had a nervous breakdown if I had to do this again ” on not making it in to the final with Caroline adding, “ We have had such a fun week, we really have, we haven’t stopped laughing.”

Viewers’ favourite Ade Edmondson then closed the show with an encore of his enchanting tribute to The Dying Swan.

Tonight’s show was the final of three heats and saw performances from Ade Edmondson (The Dying Swan from the classic ballet), Marcus Brigstocke (Kung Fu Fighting, Carl Douglas), Joe Swash & Caroline Flack (My Humps, Black Eyed Peas), Lee Nelson & Omelette (Club Tropicana, Wham!), Iain Lee(Gettin’ Jiggy With It, Will Smith), and 80’s Super Group – Toyah Willcox, Limahl, Clare Grogan and Chesney Hawkes (Greased Lightning from the film Grease).

There were also performances from Jessie J and The Wanted who treated viewers to Comic Relief’s Official Song, Gold Forever.

Next week, the finalists from tonight’s show join Katie Price (I Want To Break Free, Queen), Russell Kane (Crazy In Love, Beyonce), Noel Fielding (Wuthering Heights, Kate Bush) and Charlie Baker & James Thornton (Puttin’ On The Ritz, from the musical of the same name) in the grand finale where the six acts will battle it out for title of Let’s Dance Champion 2011.
