It appears that Alan Cumming may be the only actor in Hollywood not returning to the X-Men franchise in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ the eagerly awaited sequel to franchise reboot ‘X-Men: First Class.’

Cumming played Nightcrawler in X2, and the character plays a large part in the storyline on which the upcoming movie is based.

Original trilogy actors such as Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman will return to the franchise in a script set 10 years after ‘First Class’ that sees the X-Men coming face to face with their future counterparts.

During a recent interview with Heat Radio, McAvoy said that Cumming would return and explained:

“You got me, [Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender], Nicholas Hoult will be back, and he’s just blossoming massively over [in America]… Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage I hear mentioned – I don’t know if that’s happening – ‘Huge’ Jackman is coming by, he’s massive, 7’5″ and muscly…”

However Alan recently admitted:

“I haven’t gotten the call. Someone told me that Nightcrawler doesn’t appear in the story but I don’t know, I think they would have called by now.”

Starring Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, Days of Future past is set for a July 18, 2014 release.
