Alesha Dixon on tonight’s Jonathan Ross Show

Strictly Come Dancing 2007: Alesha Dixon

Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon joins Jonathan Ross for this week’s Friday Night With Jonathan Ross on BBC One.

Setting the Strictly record straight, she reveals that she didn’t know Arlene Phillips was out: “I knew nothing, I found out when everyone else did. I was as surprised as everyone else but I took all the flak for it.”

She also denies Arlene was a victim of ageism: “Personally I don’t think it’s about ageism, I think that’s a load of rubbish.”

Although she thought she might not be accepted – “I was worried the judges wouldn’t warm towards me” – she’s emerged stronger since the press scruitiny: “I thought I’m not going to let the media ruin my experience.

“It’s made me stronger. My life has never been smooth; it’s made me more determined, focused… I’m a fighter, I believe you have to rise above negativity.”

She says she fancies Ricky Groves to go the distance: “You want people who make you want to get up and join in.”

And she admits she isn’t surprised contestants have affairs: “It gets flirtatious, it doesn’t surprise me.”

Finally, she announces she’s joining BBC Children in Need this year.

The BBC really seem to be flogging away at getting Aleisha Dixon into the high profile shows. She is only a pop singer with not alot else about her.
To listen to her on Strictly is an embarressment. Someone is either coaching her what to say or writing it down for her. No way can she go from week one where she had nothing of inteligence to say to now coming out with professional comments. She has had 4 months experiece and now thinks she knows more than the judges with years of expereince. To disagree with a comment Len made is an insult. I can only guess the BBC have told the other judges to keep their mounths shut and also the professional dancers. The show has been ruined with her on the panel. I for one cringe when they ask for her comments. To now have her on Children in Need will for sure make me turn the TV off on that night. We will have her reading the news next or perhaps a presentator on Breakfast TV.
It is time the BBC listened to the public opinion , after all we pay your wages with the fees we pay.
