Alex Jones admitted that she was absolutely “devastated” when Jason Manford left ‘The One Show’.
The 33-year-old star became close to the British comic when they both took over the programme from Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles last July and his career will survive the scandal caused by him sending a string of raunchy messages to women on social networking website twitter.
Alex said: “Jason and I became firm friends quite quickly because there was so much pressure on us. He’s a great guy and we still keep in touch.
“I spoke to Jason about it all when it was happening, and, of course, I was devastated that he left. But Jason is one of the best comedians we have and I think he’ll still have a great and long career. I think it was less of a big deal for him, compared to if it had happened to me, just because he’s in a league of his own when it comes to presenting – he’s not run of the mill.”
Alex – who is now joined on the programme by Matt Baker – fronts the show on Fridays with Chris Evans and she admits working with the veteran broadcaster has taught her a lot.
She told the current issue of new! magazine: “Working with Chris is great but he’s a bit of a whirlwind. He’s a little bit nuts but he’s a tremendous presenter who I’ve learned a lot from.”
The Welsh beauty has also been taking advice from the programme’s former presenter Adrian Chiles – who fronted the show with Christine Bleakley – because they live close to one another.
She said: “Me and Adrian live in the same apartment block. He’s just a nice guy and I’ve asked him for advice a few times.”
