Alexander Armstrong says his new game show, Big Ask, is “civilized”

Alexander Armstrong has revealed that his new game show, Alexander Armstrong’s Big Ask, will be less of a “bear pit” and “more civilized” than other shows of its ilk.

Of the show – which premieres at 9:00 pm on Monday, 6th February on Dave – Alexander said, “It’s a test of obscure general knowledge, but fun – just the sorts of strange facts that we all know and have stored away.

“It really gives rise to some flights of fancy from the assembled guests. And it gets comedians to do what they like to do best, which is catch each other out!”

He added, “I think what’s really nice about it is that it has a very genial atmosphere, it’s not one of those shows where comics are all shouting over each other…

“We don’t have a panel in the most literal sense, there’s no woodwork, just three comfy armchairs. It’s meant to be like my flat, so it has a nice homely feel.

“Can I say this without sounding terrible, but it feels a bit more civilised, and less like a bear pit?

“The feedback from all the guests was that it’s a nice – and here’s another terrible word – forum.”

Each week, the show will feature special guests from the world of comedy who’ll be quizzed on just about anything, from Shakespeare, magic and the Bible. Panellists must be quick on their buzzers in order to win the right to ask the questions themselves.

The first episode sees Graham Norton, Sandi Toksvig and Marcus Brigstocke battling it out.

Will you be watching? I may well have a squiz, but if it’s as life sappingly dull as Alexander’s other show, Pointless, I won’t hang around too long!

Do you watch Pointless? Does anybody??
