American singer Alicia Keys has admitted that she is seriously excited about the launch of Black Entertainment Television (BET) in the UK.

At the launch of the channel, Keys said:

“I am very excited about the station as I grew up with BET for almost as long as I can remember in America and every time I travel over to the UK I would say, where’s BET?

“So it’s very exciting to be able to help to launch a channel that I’m very familiar with and has definitely helped influence music and soul such a great way (to) bring it over here.”

She went on: “Also to be able to close the gap between British artists and American artists and allow it to be even more mixed up. I think that that’s the exciting part about it, that’s what I’m looking forward to and I’m looking forward to the way that it can grow overall.”
