American Horror Story: Coven: Official synopsis released; secrets, destruction and horror galore
The official synopsis for the brand new season of American Horror Story has been released and if it is anything to go by, it’s going to be a flippin’ good season!
As we already know, the season will focus on the supernatural and witchcraft, but according to the synopsis the season will flip through history as the witches that escaped the Salem witch trials are now facing extinction. There’s secrets, destruction and terror galore in the new season.
The official synopsis reads:
“Coven tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.”
The season has also been given an official premiere date of October 9 – so mark it in your diaries and make sure you have a free night. Speaking of October, I bet the Halloween episode will be brilliant this year with the fusion of the supernatural and witches!
Denis O’Hare, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone, Gabourey Sidibe and Kathy Bates will appear on the show for the first time, whilst returning players such as Jessica Lange, Alexandra Breckenridge, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy and Lily Rabe will also star.
