The American Music Awards 2014 took place last night at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California celebrating the most popular artists and albums of the year.

It had been announced just days before the ceremony that Taylor Swift was already a winner after she had been chosen to receive the ‘Dick Clark Award For Excellence’ award.

It was also clear that Iggy Azalea was a popular choice with six nominations to her name but could she win some, if not all of what she had been nominated for?

The singer triumphed at the AMAs winning the Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and Favorite Artist Rap/Hip-Hop Album beating Eminem who earlier in the week had an altercation with the female rapper.

During her acceptance speech last night Azalea admitted that she was overwhelmed to pick up her first ever trophy and explained that her love of rap and hip-hop was what gave her the inspiration to move to the US and continue the pursuit of her dreams and helped her get through life and head to “better times”.

Iggy wasn’t the only big winner as One Direction took home three awards at the end of the night including Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Album and Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group.

The night was packed with performances from some of the biggest names in music but at the end of the day it’s all about the winners and the full winners list can be seen below.
