*****

So there we go, the new Doctor Who is 26 year old actor Matt Smith! Call back soon when we’ll take a look at him and his previous roles!
……

We’re now seeing a montage of clips from all the Doctor’s incarnations…

……

Matt says he’ll ‘just concentrate on the words on the page’ when he approaches the role.
……

Matt says that he’s looking forward to seeing his character evolve and he’s now opening a letter that David has written to him about his new job! Doesn’t look like we’re going to get to hear what’s in it though.

……

Matt’s saying that he’ll be asking David for advice on the role and he’s added that he can’t quite get used to being the new Doctor!

……

We’re seeing clips of Matt in his other acting roles and I must say, there is something very charismatic about him!

David’s saying that he feels jealous of Matt for the great journey he’s about to embark on. Matt’s also saying how hard it’s been keeping this secret but he says he’s found it very exciting too!

……

The reason he was chosen is that he is a superb actor we’re being told and that he’d proven his abilities in Party Animals and other roles; he’d shown that he had versatility and ‘swagger’ in those roles.

……

He’s on screen now talking about how excited he is about the role and explaining how his casting has been shrouded in mystery. Steven Moffat is also discussing how very ‘different’ Matt is as far as casting for the Doctor goes.

So we’re getting near now to finding out who the new Doctor is… and it’s Matt Smith!
……

We’re now seeing clips of the passionate side of the ancient one with all the on screen kissing action that he’s indulged in! David kissing Kylie was a great example!
……

Russell and Steven are now talking about Paul McGann being the Doctor very briefly and how he brought comedic value to the role and reprised the flamboyance of Hartnell’s costumes.
……
We’re now hearing about Sylvester McCoy as the 7th Doctor and David says he ‘started as a bit of a clown’. We’re also seeing clips of the flamboyant performance by Sylvester.
……
Russell is now discussing how Peter Davidson took over the role and David adds that Peter was like the Doctor’s ‘younger brother’.
……

We’re now hearing about Tom Baker who before David, at age 40 was the youngest Doctor. Steven says he was shocked at the thought of Tom being the Doctor but his quirkyness and ‘strange’ performances made him a unique Doctor.

……

Steven Moffat says that the Doctor is something of a contradiction; he’s old but he’s childlike too. He says that although John Pertwee was an older man, he came across as being very youthful. He’s adding that he’s always believed the Doctor should be an older man, but he’s said that he’s now cast a 26 year old!
……

David and Steven are discussing how John Pertwee managed to ‘get away with’ wearing velvet jackets and frilly shirts! They describe him as ‘a dandy’.

……

Russell T Davies, one of the show’s primary writers describes how he loved Patrick Troughton in the role and now is talking about how ‘strong and overtly powerful’ John Pertwee was in the role.

David reckons that John was ‘more authoratitive’ in the role.
……

David is on again talking about the history of the character of the Doctor, and specifically about William Hartnell, the very first Time Lord.
……

We’re now seeing clips from David and Christopher Eccleston’s portrayal of the Doctor… and weren’t they both awesome!

……

David Tennant is on right now and has said, ‘His life is about to change!’ so I guess we can rule out it being a girl Doctor!

There’s now some recaps of the moment that David announced he’s leaving the role as well as discussion from Steven Moffat about all the rumour regarding who the new Time Lord’s going to be.

Steven has also said that the new Doctor is going to be the ‘youngest ever’ Doctor. He’s added that the actor is relatively unknown actor but hugely talented!
