Andrew Sachs’ character to be killed off in Corrie

Andrew Sachs as Ramsay on Coronation Street
According to The Sun today, Coronation Street newbie Ramsay Clegg – Norris Cole’s estranged brother – is to be killed off when boarding a plane back to Australia.

Andrew Sachs joined the Corrie cast three months ago to play Ramsay who was in Weatherfield on a mission to win over his brother Norris. The two had been estranged for many years, but instead, he won the heart of long-term widow Emily Bishop.

In Sachs’ final scenes, we’ll see Emily taking Ramsay to the graveside of her husband Ernest who was shot and killed in an armed robbery at the site of what is now Underworld. She’ll be seen imploring him not to return to Australia but he turns her down and in a dramatic twist, he then has a heart attack and dies while boarding the plane back to Oz.

This will leave Emily devastated and battling Norris in order for Ramsay to be buried in Manchester rather than Australia.

It seems however that Andrew was hoping to stay on in the show but the Street’s writers decided to write him out permanently.

A source from the soap told the paper, “Andrew’s character was only meant to be temporary but his departure will be dramatic.”

sorry couldn’t see the point in the character anyway, a bit like Poppy the barmaid, we could have managed perfectly well as we were without them both! To my mind they brought nothing to the show.
