Andy McNab fronts this hard-hitting series exclusive to ITV4 this summer, uncovering the real truth and stories behind British and American soldiers fighting the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. Renowned for his extensive service and experience in the SAS, McNab will narrate the show amidst special Ministry of Defence footage, User Generated Content, dramatic reconstructions and powerful interviews with troops from the front line. Andy McNab’s Tour of Duty is brand new to ITV4, Tuesdays from 10th June at 10pm.

Not since World War II has conflict seen such intense combat. During this six-part series, McNab will use each episode to take an in-depth look into the fatal situations facing serving personnel on a daily basis. There are incredible stories of sniper fire throughout, as well as accounts of ambush, the hidden enemy, being under siege, what to do during the ‘golden hour’ of injury, as well as being in deadly convoy. How do the soldiers cope when faced with an enemy ambush – what weapons are needed to fight their corner, when do they advance and when is the time to fall back? What happens when the ambush is reversed and the enemy attacks our men? McNab discusses the multiple ways the hidden enemy can attack and the crucial roles the engineers play in the heart of the action.

Interviews with British soldiers – who now class Basra and Helmand as their home – will tell viewers how they are constantly at threat and what it really feels like when bullet fire continues week after week. When there is an eventual cease fire the troop is checked for any casualties. What is an officer’s first thought when he discovers one of his soldiers is wounded? Army medics are interviewed on their essential survival techniques for injury on the battlefield. Finally, we speak to the personnel responsible for vital supplies within the camps. The enemy is all too aware that if they can disrupt the delivery of fuel, water, food and ammo then their subsequent attack will perhaps prove much more successful.
