Ant and Dec sign a deal worth £10million with ITV!

Geordie presenting duo Ant and Dec have reportedly signed a “golden handcuffs” deal with ITV which is worth around £10million to the lads.

The Sun reports that in addition to continuing to present I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here – which returns to our screens with a new series on Sunday night – the lads will bring back their hit show, Saturday Night Takeaway later this year.

An ITV insider said, “Ant and Dec are a massive investment but they’re worth every penny.

“There is talk of pay cuts, but ITV wouldn’t really risk losing them. They’re one of the biggest assets the channel has.

“They work so hard and pull in more viewers than any other host or team.”

And on the subject of the axed game show, Push the Button, the insider added, “Ant and Dec own Push The Button and might bring it back one day.

“But it’s off the schedule for now.”

However, there’s no word as yet if Ant and Dec will co-present another series of Red or Black? which was of course created by X Factor guru Simon Cowell.

Of their new ITV deal, Ant told the paper, “We are really pleased to sign with ITV for another two years and continue to make the programmes we love.”

And Dec added, “We always said we’d bring back Saturday Night Takeaway, so we’re delighted plans are now in place.

“We have lots of fresh and exciting ideas for the new series.”

Ant and Dec first rose to fame as actors on the children’s TV show Byker Grove, during which – and in their subsequent short career in pop – they were known as PJ & Duncan – the names of the characters they played on the show.

Since then, Ant and Dec have gone on to present shows such as SMTV Live, Friends Like These, Pop Idol, PokerFace and Britain’s Got Talent, in addition to those mentioned above.

They briefly returned to acting in a 2002 Tribute to The Likely Lads and in the 2006 comedy film, Alien Autopsy.

And here’s a little Ant and Dec trivia for you – Ant is the taller of the two at 5’8″ (1.73 m) and Dec is two inches shorter at 5’6″ (1.68 m).

Here’s a deleted scene from Alien Autopsy…
