Ant and Dec have spent 10 years standing back and watching celebrities face their fears as they take on bushtucker trials on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity – finally the tables have turned!
Ant and Dec have always said they’d never do a bushtucker trail, but when they were asked to take on a trial to raise money for ITV’s new charity initiative Text Santa, which will be hosted by the Geordie duo, as well as Holly Willoughby, at 7.30pm on Christmas Eve, they couldn’t refuse.
Before leaving the jungle in Australia after this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Ant and Dec took on the challenge, Celebrity Cyclone, one of the show’s favourite trials. Ant and Dec were presented with a giant star and had to battle the elements to touch it down on four markers, each worth £25,000, whilst climbing a large, slippery, slide. With the chance of raising £100,000 for Text Santa, they were determined to give it their best shot. However, the challenge isn’t as easy as it sounds as whilst trying to get to the touch points, Ant and Dec had water, wind, plastic balls and foam blasted at them with great force – and hilarious results.
“It was so much harder than we had expected it to be,” said Ant. “It has certainly made us appreciate the efforts of the celebrities that take part in the show and do trial after trial.”
“We were exhausted at the end of it,” added Dec. “We really enjoyed it though and the crew certainly took delight in seeing us suffer!”. Dec continues, “We never thought we’d do a bushtucker trial, but we couldn’t turn down such a great opportunity to raise so much money for the Text Santa campaign.”
To find out how Ant and Dec did on their trial, tune into Text Santa at 7.30pm on Christmas Eve, ITV1. Ant and Dec, and later Holly Willoughby, will be hosting the fun-filled show with lots of Christmas surprises and plenty of celebrity faces.
