To celebrate the Christmas season, This Morning will be calling on its viewers to take part in a festive sing-a-long spectacular!

Launching on Monday 30th November, This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby together with Christmas Choir host Jonathan Ansell will be asking viewers to join them in a virtual carol singing experiment.

Working with YouTube, viewers will get to record themselves singing carol favourite – We Wish You A Merry Christmas – and become part of the biggest carol singing performance that has ever been attempted on YouTube in the UK.

Helen Pendlebury, Senior Editor for Daytime & Factual at said: “We know from all the correspondence we receive that This Morning’s audience are some of the most lively and creative viewers around so we decided to give them a Christmas treat! It’s the first time a virtual choir has been tried in this way in the UK and we’re delighted to be working with YouTube to let their talents shine.”

Once video clips are received This Morning will reveal a selection of the best and most entertaining performances throughout December until the This Morning production team and Jonathan Ansell have decided on their chosen choir members. Full instructions and advice on how to best record your performance will be given and the virtual choir will be revealed on This Morning on 23rd December. During this special Christmas show Jonathan will perform live in the studio with all members of the choir forming an impressive video montage backdrop.

Patrick Walker, Director, Video Partnerships, YouTube EMEA, said: “People up and down the country love a Christmas carol and we’re sure there will be some fabulously festive videos created for this virtual sing-along. All videos will be uploaded and available on This Morning’s new YouTube channel and we’re looking forward to seeing some real crackers!”

Jonathan Ansell added: “I am delighted to be involved in This Morning’s Christmas Choir, everyone loves to sing and anyone can take part in this. I can’t wait to view the video clips and I’m really excited to perform with them – it’s going to be great fun.”
