Arrow spoilers: creator excited about new Seth Gabel villain
Arrow co-creator Andrew Kreisberg has hinted at fringe actor Seth Gabel’s upcoming “phenomenal” appearance on the show.
The star is set to appear in the series as a new enemy for Oliver Queen, played by Stephen Amell, based on DC Comics villain Count Vertigo.
Andrew told TV Line: “[He is] going to present Oliver with a new problem, because it’s the first time his actions have possibly caused things to get worse.”
In an episode set to air early next year, Seth’s character will use a drug known as Vertigo which will disable and disorient his victims in a bid to become more powerful than his enemies.
Andrew said: “[Oliver] will have turned this somewhat minor drug dealer into a real force of destruction.
“He’s phenomenal in the part. The dailies are just blowing us away.”
And despite the upcoming brilliant performance from Seth, his character is not considered to be the biggest villain of the series.
Andrew recently old Seattle pi: “Well, Vertigo is not actually the big bad of the season. Somehow that got mentioned in the press but it’s not [true]. There is a big bad of the season.
“For us, what’s so funny about Count Vertigo is he’s really the first ‘super villain’ that Arrow has created. We’re seeing his origin story and that’s exciting to us because, again, that’s one of the things that Oliver didn’t consider: taking on the persona of the Arrow is going to have repercussions in the city and not all of them are going to be good.”
Arrow continues in the UK on Mondays on Sky1 and in the US on Wednesdays on The CW.
