Arrow season 2 spoilers: Glee’s Grant Gustin cast as The Flash

by Nick Barnes

It has been revealed that Glee’s Grant Gustin has picked up a huge role on the forthcoming season of Arrow.

Gustin will take on The Flash in the forthcoming second season of the hit CW show, but he won’t appear until much later in the second season.

Flash A.K.A Barry Allen will first appear in episode 8 – he will also star in the ninth and twentieth episodes of the season. It has also been revealed that episode 20 will serve as a backdoor plot for a potential spin-off show.

If the network likes him in the role and the reaction from the audience is as good as producers expect, Gustin could also star in his own spin-off show, which will also be an origin series for The CW.

Barry has been described as “a central assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexpected robberies that may have a connection to tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante”.

Arrow’s leading man Stephen Amell congratulated Gustin via Twitter, writing: “You should probably start stretching your hamstrings like… immediately. Congratulations”.

Colton Haynes also shared his support, in which he tweeted: “Arrow season 2 has found its Flash. Congratulations, welcome aboard bud!”

The plans were first announced at the TCA summer press tour, but at the time, producers weren’t ready to release a name to match the role.

Earlier this summer at the Television Critics Association press tour, The CW President Mark Pedowitz said: “There’s a big DC universe where super-powered characters do intersect and don’t intersect. But remember, it’s an origin story so he may not come in with superpowers”.

Of course, many of you may remember Gustin as Sebastian Smythe from Glee – he was a part of The Dalton Academy Warblers on the show.

Arrow is schedule to return to The CW on October 9.
