The BBC have banned Jonathan Ross from interviewing convicted rapist Mike Tyson on his Friday night chat show.

The Daily Mail reports that Executives at Ross’s production company, Hot Sauce, had been considering inviting Tyson on as a guest but BBC bosses vetoed the idea.

Tyson was convicted of raping Desiree Washington, a Miss Black America beauty contestant in 1992.

Conservative MP Philip Davies, who sits on the Commons Culture Select Committee, said: ‘This is the latest in a catalogue of errors of judgment made by Jonathan Ross. The BBC should have got rid of him when they had the chance.’

A BBC spokesman said: ‘Mike Tyson’s name did come up, but after discussions with the BBC, the producers at Hot Sauce decided he wouldn’t be right on this occasion.’
