BBC comedy Miranda set to end after current series
Hit BBC show Miranda is set to end once the current series finishes.
A massive 10 million people tuned in to watch the first episode of the third series on Boxing Day but the sitcom’s actor Tom Ellis claims creator Miranda Hart no longer wants to work on the programme.
He told the Daily Mirror: “I don’t think Miranda wants to write any more after this series. It might change, and maybe there might be the odd special, but everyone has other projects.”
Tom, who is married to former EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite, is planning to head to Los Angeles to pursue a film career now that he has finished filming the third series of Miranda.
He said: “Now filming has finished I’m going to go and do pilot season in LA early next year. It feels like a natural progression. I’m 33 and sort of moving into the leading-man bracket and there’s more opportunity for that over there.
“Work has been so good here I don’t want people to get bored with seeing my face on screen.
“Moving to LA isn’t something we’d turn our noses up at, but I’d only go if I had a job there.
“We’ve got friends there… And just having a different way of life for a while would be great.”
