BENEFIT BUSTERS – CHANNEL 4
Unemployment is rife in Hull, but for one company business is booming: A4E has won the lucrative contract to help get the long-term unemployed back to work. Mark Pilkington is an ex-soldier who hasn’t worked for 10 years. He welcomes help and within a fortnight he finds a job. But the joy of receiving his first pay cheque is short-lived; after just four weeks a business downturn results in Mark being laid off. Facing a return to A4E and potentially a four-week wait to restart his benefit payments, Mark begins to wonder if there is more security in a life on benefits.

Lets not forget we all know they have a target to hit which is to get people into work to raise revenue for A4e. I appreciate A4e is a business, but is trying to say it is only for the people. That is clearly not the case, and that was shown again in the programme last night. So unless Channel 4 have edited this programme to make A4e look bad, all i can say is what you see is what happens. Employees last night admitted they had targets to hit, trying to get people into work which was totally irrelevant to their personal circumstances but it gains revenue for A4e. A4e in my opinion is been paid to house people for 30 hours a week at 100 pounds per person per week.
I wish i had thought of the concept, but at least i would be honest about why i wasn’t doing it.
Emma Harrison is a disgrace.
