Who can forget when Beyoncé released her new album? It’s safe to say that (besides her team) that no one expected it in the slightest.
It was the morning of Friday the 13th here in the UK and people were waking up to find out that Beyoncé had released her fifth studio album and so the internet went into meltdown. Beyoncé has opened up though at a screening party for the new album.
We’d reported that on Saturday Beyoncé attended an album launch party (her own of course) and revealed that she was “terrified” to release her new album.
At the same launch party at the School of Visual Arts Theatre in New York on Saturday (21st of December) things got very personal as Beyoncé revealed that with this album she was ready to start moving on with her music.
Speaking about the intimate nature of her new self titled album the beauty said: “I’m very private and I’m very respectful, and I think it just took me no longer being someone’s child – once I became a mother, I felt like I could tear those fourth walls and I just felt like it was time,” she said. “I completely feel liberated.”
Explaining her approach to the new album Beyoncé said: “Honestly I was at a point where I felt like, you know, everything feels the same,”
“That’s how I felt and if I could not challenge that, then maybe it’s time for me to do something else or develop more artists, which is something I want to do.”
Beyoncé also spoke about starting her own production company (Parkwood Entertainment) and revealed why she wanted to do that: “I felt like I wanted follow in the footsteps of Madonna and be a powerhouse and have my own empire,” she said
“And [to] show other women when you get to this point in your career, you don’t have to go sign with someone else and share your money and your success, you can do it yourself.”
