Apple today had a very special announcement for Beyoncé fans as the Cupertino firm has revealed that Queen B’s self-titled visual album has become the fastest selling album ever on the iTunes store.

In total, Beyoncé has managed to shift 828,773 albums in just THREE days on sale.

The surprise element of the release has indeed spurred people on to purchase the album but to sell an unprecedented amount of albums along with being number one in 104 countries is some feat to beat.

The self-titled album is the fifth solo album from Beyoncé and took the world by surprise as it was quietly released on Friday (December 13) morning.

Over the past 12 months, we’ve all been wondering when B would be dropping her new album and out of the blue on Friday morning, Beyoncé released the self-titled visual album on iTunes without any lead singles, videos or promotion, and it has most definitely worked in her favour.

BEYONCÉ features 14 brand new songs along with 17 videos all in one album and represents the stars biggest sales week ever.

iTunes has the exclusive on the album until this Saturday. Following that, the album will be physically available to purchase in stores.

Speaking about the release via a video on her Facebook Page, Beyoncé said: “I see music. It’s more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music”.

She goes on to say that she misses “the immersive experience” of visually seeing a track. “People only listen to a few seconds of songs on their iPods and they don’t really invest in the whole experience,” she continued “It’s all about the single, and the hype. It’s so much that gets between the music and the art and the fans. I felt like, I don’t want anybody to get the message, when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans”.
