Bi-Curious Me: Three women talk about changes in their sexuality in this revealing documentary from Channel 4
With increasingly open attitudes to sexuality, interest in same sex-relationships and bi-curiosity are gradually becoming more acceptable. This programme explores the stories of three women as they come to terms with changes in their sexuality and questions whether these new-found sexual freedoms make intimate relationships easier.
26 year old dating coach Hayley Quinn began to explore her own sexuality, a move that was prompted by her first partner’s open attitude to sex and relationships. Now Hayley dates men and women, often at the same time. Hayley goes halfway across the world to meet a partner who holds a special place in her heart, but still takes her girlfriend with her. Hayley’s approach to sexuality brings a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘complicated love life’, but at the same time this new-found freedom makes her happier.
57 year old Jill is about to leave her husband of 25 years to embark on a new life, and she’s not looking for a new man. Her grown-up children have only just learnt of their mother’s changing sexuality and Jill’s more pressing concerns are about leaving the family home and the life she knew.
30 year old Sophie has had two significant relationships, one with a man and the other with a woman. Sophie had always thought of herself as straight but having a same-sex relationship didn’t prove as liberating as she’d hoped as it raised certain complications. Although the relationship ended, Sophie is still working through her feelings and is not sure if she will ever be ‘out and proud’.
Bi-Curious Me airs tonight on Channel 4 at 10pm
