David Doherty, the son of Big Fat Gypsy Weddings and Celebrity Big Brother star Paddy Doherty, is set to appear in court today on charges of causing death by dangerous driving.

The incident occurred on the 18th March when the car that 27 year old David was driving collided with a van on the A55 near Abergwyngregyn in Gwynedd, north Wales.

A friend of David’s, James Loveridge, died in the crash and three other men were injured. David escaped with only cuts and bruises.

At the time, a spokesman for Paddy said he was “deeply upset” by the tragedy and it brought back memories of his son Patrick who died in a car crash aged 18…

Paddy and his wife Roseanne had ten children, but sadly, only five survived past childbirth.

The Daily Mail reported recently that Paddy “shows a softer side” when he visits Patrick’s grave, which he does every time he buys a new car…

He apparently takes the vehicle to “show” to Patrick, and on the anniversary of his death, hundreds of family and friends gather at his graveside to leave floral tributes.

The paper adds, “They bring music and beer and have a party in the cemetery.”

As to David Doherty’s court appearance today, it hasn’t been revealed how he intends to plead, but we’ll keep you posted.
