Actress Billie Piper has admitted that she loved the costumes and corsets she had to wear in new BBC period drama, The Shadow In The North.

Piper told The Sun: “It’s good to do a stint of period dramas back to back. It makes you feel quite pretty and girly.

“Wearing a corset is really good for your performance as it forces you to stand in the right way. My ribs were perfectly crushed and my corset mould was exactly the same shape for both.”

She added that she likes her costumes to be as tight fitting as possible, saying: “As far as corsetry goes, the tighter the better for me. You get used to it as it moves with you. But I’m a real jeans and T-shirt girl and the novelty of wearing a corset does wear off after a while.”
