Bookies predict backlash if Guns N’ Roses and Axl Rose return to Dublin

by Lisa McGarry

Guns N’ Roses are planning a spectacular return to Dublin this May, but bookies Paddy Power are betting Axland Co could be on the receiving end of a public backlash after annoying Irish fans in 2010.

Rose stormed off the stage after just four songs on September 1, 2010, when the crowd began to boo and throw bottles. Their anger was fuelled by the fact the Paradise City singer turned up over 40 minutes late for the show.

Now Paddy Power are betting the front man, who is notorious for being late, may never get a chance to make amends to his Irish supporters. It’s 9/2 that the band cancel the date and 10/1 that the band are forced to cancel their Irish gig due to a lack of ticket sales.

But, if the show does go ahead, all eyes will be on whether or not Axl can show up on time. It’s 3/1 he enters the stage at the scheduled start time, 9/2 he’s up to fifteen minutes late, and just 2/1 that the audience are left waiting for more than an hour!

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “The fans didn’t take too kindly to Axl’s diva-like attitude last time he was in Dublin and rightly so. We just hope he has more sense this time around and that he’ll actually show up on time!”
