A unique decade-long television project, Born to Be Different provides an intimate portrait of what it’s like to be a child growing up with a disability. Since they were born nine years ago, Channel 4 has been following the lives of six children. This fourth series follows them over another two years as they turn eight and nine. Each child has their own particular battle to fight: some face the prospect of major operations; some require constant support and medication. Others struggle to find their place in what often seems like a cruel world outside their homes. For one child it’s a battle just to stay alive.
