Boxing Day 2013: Don’t miss ‘The Wizard Of Oz’

Wizard-of-Oz 2

It really wouldn’t be the festive season without ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ right? Surely if you’re reading this then it’s a film you’ve seen at least once – probably more.

Hopefully you’ve made it safely back from the Boxing Day sales and you got what you wanted but now it’s time for some chill out time and some TV and we’ve got some great picks coming up!

‘The Wizard Of Oz’ really is one of the greats and would you believe it was first released in 1939? It’s that old but it’s still shown every year.

The story is simple and we’re sure you know it by now but when a tornado hits Kansas, Dorothy and her dog Toto are swept away to a magical land – Oz (not Australia unfortunately).

Dorothy however wants to get her and Toto home to see her family but it’s not that simple as she must make her way to the Wizard of Oz who is the only person who can help her get home.

Along the yellow brick road (the path to the wizard) she meets other people who also need help from the Wizard including a Scarecrow, a Tin Man and a Cowardly Lion.

Following the yellow brick road may sound simple but when you’ve got the Wicked Witch Of The West and her army of flying monkeys in your way, getting home isn’t that easy.

It truly is a classic however and stars Judy Garland as Dorothy,  Ray Bolger as the Scarecrow, Jack Haley as the Tin Man, Bert Lahr as the Cowardly Lion, and Frank Morgan as The Wizard of Oz.

Make sure you stick with us over the festive period as we continue to give you our picks of what’s on the TV as we know there’s a lot to choose from.
