Bradley Walsh to take The Chase to America

Former Coronation Street star, Bradley Walsh, is set to make the pond leap across to the US of A after broadcasting giants, Fox, have ordered a pilot of his hit ITV1 quiz show, The Chase.

The pilot will be shot in the UK studios, with the network flying contestants over from the US to take part.

The buzz is that show producers think that this could be huge, and that Walsh could become a household name in the states, with a source saying: “This is the big time for Bradley now. It could be huge.

“Telly is a big deal in America and they love Brits — look at Anne Robinson, Piers Morgan. Even Jeremy Kyle and Gordon Ramsay have made the big time.”

The Chase (or The Chase UK as it is bound to be renamed after this) currently runs on ITV1 at 5pm Mon-Fri and challenges four contestants to amass as much money as possible by answering quick-fire questions in a 60-second round, with each correct answer earning them £1000.  All money won, an average of around £5000 per episode, gets put in a team kitty, with the team then having to take on the quiz genius The Chaser, in order to collect it.

The current UK Chasers are Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty and Paul Sinha, but it has not yet been decided if they will star in the US version of the show if it is picked up.

The Chase can be seen week nights at 5pm on ITV1 / ITV1 HD.
