Gurinder Chadha, previously known for Bhaji on the Beach and Bend it Like Beckham , takes on Jane Austen’s classic novel and sprinkles it with Bollywood magic. Set in the modern era, William Darcy, a rich New York hotelier, is visiting India to join his best friend Balraj at a wedding as well as check out possible sites to expand his empire.

Also at the wedding are the Bakshi family, including Lalita Bakshi (Aishwarya Rai, Miss World 1994), and while for Balraj and her older sister Jaya (Namrata Shirodkar) it’s love at first sight, for Darcy and Lalita, it’s antipathy at first sight.
