Britains Rich List!

It’s become Britain’s most exclusive club with a thousand members, but it’s certainly not cheap to join. In fact, you need a cool £70m before they’ll let you in. The Sunday Times Rich List has become an important barometer of what’s going on in Britain and has become a Who’s Who of the wealthy. With an exclusive advance copy, Britain’s Rich List presented by entreprenuer Peter Jones reveals the country’s top earners and meets some of the men and women on the list to learn the secrets of amassing serious wealth.

Aided by Dr Philip Beresford who has worked on the authoratitive guide for 18 years, Britain’s Rich List counts down the bank balances of some of the UK’s most intriguing celebrities, from the guaranteed wealth of the Royal Family to seriously rich personalities from the worlds of

business, music and entertainment.

With at least 15 percent of people in The Sunday Times Rich List aristocrats and royalty, the countdown reveals just how much The Duke of Westminster is worth, and how JK Rowling overtook the Queen to become the richest woman in the UK, all thanks to one young wizard.

And we discover just how fast things can change on the Rich List: just how far will Sir Paul McCartney (No 65 on last year’s list) and Roman Abramovich (No 2 last year) fall following their recent divorce settlements?

Is Stelios – who claims “the difference between genius and madness is success” – getting closer to Branson’s fortunes as his multi-million pound easyJet business empire diversifies?

From the world of Pop we discover who’s going up – and who’s going down – and there’s a look at what the wealthy choose to spend their money on, including why, when you have bought all the cars, boats, houses and horses one could ever need, football clubs are today’s must-have accessory.

And if you need an astonishing £70m just to make it onto the bottom of the list, just how many billions does it take to get into the Top 10?

Last year’s wealthiest person in Britain was steel businessman Lakshmi Mittal who was worth a staggering £14.8 billion. Has anyone caught up with him?

Britain’s Rich List features interviews with compiler Philip Beresford, David Sullivan, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Jeffrey Archer, Felix Dennis, Duncan Bannatyne, Anita Roddick, John Caudwell, Jacqueline Gold and John Madejski. There are also contributions from financial journalist Judi Bevan, cultural commentator Peter York, Editor of Majesty Magazine Ingrid Seward, Director of Christies Meredith Etherington-Smith, music industry accountant Cliff Dane and divorce lawyer Vanessa Lloyd Platt.
