Bruno Mars has been praised for his success this year after Billboard crowned him with the title of “Artist of the Year 2013” which his new album ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ assisted him in winning.
The singer-songwriter has also spoken about writing new material and how he has a team of people who he can turn to for advice.
Bruno Mars is without a doubt one of the greatest singer-songwriters of our time and he shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
His songwriting team known as The Smeezingtons are who Bruno Mars turns to when he’s writing new material and he’ll ask for advice on whether a song is great or too corny.
Talking to Billboard magazine Mars said: “I may say, ‘Yo, I like this song,’. But if Ari or Phil (Ari Levine and Philip Lawrence) say it’s the corniest shit they’ve ever heard, I trust them. And the other way around.”
“We all know when we’re onto something, like with ‘Locked.'”
“It was, ‘Man, there’s a good pocket on this song right now. Let’s keep it going.'”
“We also know when something’s not jelling. And that’s the thing you pray you will always have. You can’t believe that everything you do is hot.”
The singer also opened up about a future album and added that he is quite happy for the moment performing his current choice of material so there are no plans right now for new material.
“There’s going to be a point on the tour where I’ll wish I had a new song or 10 more songs to sing. That’s when the excitement comes back and you start working that muscle, ready to get back into the studio.”
He added: “But I’m good right now. If you put me in the studio, I don’t know what I’d come up with, because I’m so enjoying this moment right now.”
