Former Neighbours actor, Jesse Spencer is staying on medical drama House, despite his co-star Jennifer Morrison’s impending departure.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Spencer will stay on and sources also suggest that Morrison may be back at a later date.
Dozens of UFO’s suddenly appear on Earth, hovering over major cities around the world and claim that their objective is to help the Human race, providing vastly superior intelligence and technology in exchange for water and minerals only found on Earth. The leader of the V’s (Visitors) Anna uses the popular TV anchor Chad Decker to deliver her messages to the Humans but suspicion arises from FBI investigator Erica who believes that the V’s have different intentions to what they claim. Erica and Father Jack find themselves being tracked down by a seeker.
Shelley Long proves the old adage ‘mother knows best’ wrong in an all-new episode packed with punchlines. The Cheers comedienne is on scene-snatching form as DeDe, Jay’s estranged ex-wife, who’s back in town to make amends for her performance at his wedding to Gloria: a wrecking ball could scarcely cause more damage.
Spurned by an exasperated Sookie, Bill ends up winning over Adele’s church audience with his vivid recollections from the Civil War, though Andy and Bud remain suspicious. Sam tries to make the most of his opportunity with Sookie, though she’s clearly not ready to commit. Ignoring Tara’s rebuff, Lafayette convinces Jason to give vampire blood, a.k.a. “V juice,” another shot. Alone at home, Bill remembers the painful wartime incident that changed his fate forever.

But for those who have to wait until the New Year (yes UK viewers will have to wait that long) before seeing the highly anticipated ‘V’ remake, SCI FI.CO.UK are currently featuring an 4 minute clip from the episode on their site.
When I heard that the old 1983 sci-fi miniseries, V, was being rebooted, I must admit that I was a little disappointed. When we take a series that was a great story and throw a ton of new-millennium special effects, usually the story gets lost in the spectacle.
However – and please expect spoilers – tonight’s premiere of V actually managed to provide breathtaking special effects alongside a very solid storyline.
The thing about V is, if you’re my age (30-mumble mumble mumble), you’ll remember vague details about the original series. There’s the rat-eating stuff, the freaky reptilian alien baby, and the water-stealing endgame. But the details are hazy to say the least. I checked with other V veterans, and they tend to agree on this.
That’s a good starting point for the re-imagining of V. It’s almost a new start for us. I mean, did you know that “V” stands for “Visitor”?
The pilot episode establishes the story comprehensively. We meet the main characters on the morning the aliens choose to visit Earth. The scene where the spacecraft hover over the major cities of the world is amazing – using the entire base of each craft to beam a message to the citizens below was a stroke of genius. And yes, we’re universally agreed that Morena Baccarin may be one of the hottest aliens in science fiction history.
Anyway, here’s a quickie run-down of the main characters:
First off, I’m not entirely sure that broadcasting their message to entire cities was the safest and most effective way for an alien race to make first contact. Perhaps a discreet word with the major parliaments in the first instance?
However, the visitors quickly ingratiate themselves with the planet by offering their advanced knowledge in return for access to water. They set up various propaganda schemes to gain favour with their hosts, including “Peace Ambassadors” – gullible kids from Earth who sell the positive aspects of the visitors to their friends and families.
But down on Earth, there’s a counter-movement of humans who despise the aliens and seem to know much more about them than the “visitor” propaganda machine would like. These ‘resistance’ members claim that the visitors have been on Earth for many years, infiltrating society and spreading their influence and that their sudden decision to reveal themselves is the final part of their scheme to eradicate the human race.
Aside from some very special sci-fi set pieces, this reboot of “V” tackles religious themes and broader societal issues. I expect to see mother and son pitted against each other as one becomes closer to the aliens while the other joins the resistance against them. When we came out of the premiere, there was a lot of discussion around “what would an alien invasion mean for religion?” and “what are the consequences of discovering intelligent life in the universe?” And that might be the mark of a good show – making the viewer walk away asking questions.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Itzin’s character will return very late in the season at the request of President Taylor (Cherry Jones).
As we leave October behind and go boldly forward into November, there are some great shows to herald the start of winter scheduling.

Leonard Nimoy has admitted that he may not make a fourth appearance on Fringe.
The Star Trek star plays William Bell on the show and told the Los Angeles Times:
“I’ve done three appearances for them. I don’t know if I will do a fourth.”
Anna Paquin has admitted that fans sometimes feel awkward about her naked scenes in True Blood.
The actress starred in Oscar-winning film The Piano aged 11 and in the X Men movies as a teenager. She told Bang Showbiz: “It’s been a gradual evolution for me. It’s probably weird for people to watch it and if they have this image of me as a sweet little child, but it’s not weird for me.”
True Blood creator Alan Ball has said that the sex scenes in the show serve an important purpose, as he feels that Vampires are a metaphor for sex.
Speaking at the Paley Centre for Media, Ball said:
“To me, vampires and the notion of vampires as a metaphor is sex. Of course that’s going to have to be a part of it and that’s part of the appeal. That’s why people love vampires, because they’re sexy.”
Smallville executive producer Kelly Souders has admitted that they are “pushing” for a 10th season of the popular CW series.
“We are really, really pushing for season 10,” Souders told The Ausiello Files. “We really hope it happens.”
Smallville has achieved disappointing ratings in its new Friday night slot but Souders thinks the numbers can improve once the word gets out.
