Coming up on Emmerdale

On Monday, Doug spots a lonely looking David eating in the café and tries to talk to him about Leyla. Doug insists girls like Leyla are one in a million and he’d be stupid not to fight for her.

David plucks up the courage to visit her at the shop and they agree to talk once she’s finished work. Later, at Leyla’s house, David reveals his date with Priya didn’t go very well and it made him realise how much he misses Leyla, although he’s not sure he’ll be able to trust her again. Thrilled, Leyla urges David to let her earn his trust back and assures him she’ll never let him down again. Are David and Leyla back on track?

Sally gives Ashley a “get well soon mummy card” that she made with the children to give to Laurel in hospital. Later, as Sally cooks dinner for Ashley, she insists she doesn’t mind and there’s no use in hurrying Laurel home before she’s back to her normal self. Is Sally preparing to move in on Ashley? On Monday, Archie wanders into the Vic and asks Roxy to call Peggy for him. Roxy, however, reminds him that he shouldn’t be there as Peggy’s barred him. While waiting for Peggy, Archie talks to Jack about Sam and claims that she won’t last long if she’s sent to prison.

Having seen the pair kiss the previous week, Archie suggests that Jack should help Sam because she trusts him. Jack’s left thinking it over while Roxy eventually tells Archie that Peggy’s not even in and that she’s at Aunt Sal’s.

Later, Archie’s having lunch with Sam at Fargo’s and he broaches the subject of prison. Sam claims that she’s prepared for whatever life behind bars has in store for her if she’s sent down, but Archie suggests that she get a second opinion on her legal position. Read more & comment »

Coming up on Coronation Street

On Monday at 7:30pm, Tony’s a desperate man and as he frantically tries to cling on to the new life he’s created, he packs Maria off to a health spa for the day, knowing the police are about to come calling.

Keeping up the façade, Tony goes to work but when the police arrive and arrest him on suspicion of Liam’s murder, he can feel his world falling apart. Down at the station Tony’s interviewed about the Croppers allegations, and as the police pile on the pressure, saying they’ll speak to Maria, will Tony crumble and confess to murder?

Meanwhile, Roy and Hayley return to the café and are relieved to hear that Tony’s been arrested and taken to the police station. But as gossip about Tony’s arrest spreads, Maria arrives back on the street. Is she about to discover the awful truth about Tony? Read more & comment »

Before his departure Bradley will briefly reunite with his ex-wife Stacey and bosses are promising that his exit will be one of the most memorable yet.

Joseph Gilgun (Eli Dingle) quits Emmerdale

Joseph Gilgun has revealed that he is leaving ITV’s Emmerdlae.

Joe has played Eli Dingle on the show since 2006 but admitted that it is time to move on.

Speaking at the premiere of his new film Harry Brown, Joseph said: “It will be sad to leave – I’ve made a lot of good friends there, but I think it is time to move on as far as my career is concerned.”

Eastenders: Ricky and Bianca get engaged

Last I heard Ricky Butcher was engaged to Sam Mitchell. But things change quickly in Walford and by this Christmas he will be betrothed to mouthy Bianca Jackson instead.

Ricky and Bianca realise their true feelings for one another after Sam quits the square next month. Their affair and lead up to the wedding will be the focus of a spin off DVD to celebrate the shows 25th anniversary.

EastEnders: Who kills Archie Mitchell? Your Vote

Yes, before it’s even happened, that’s the question that we all want the answer to. And we want to know who you reckon dunnit, or rather, will do it.

There are of course no shortage of contenders; Ronnie, Peggy, Phil, Janine, Ryan – who might do it out of jealousy – maybe even Roxy. Or perhaps a total surprise hitter might be Archie’s ex-wife Glenda – played by Glynis Barber – who’s due to appear in January.

We already know that Archie’s to be murdered on Christmas Day and his killer’s name revealed during the show’s 25th anniversary live episode in February, so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that she might bump him off… Read more & comment »

Stefan Dennis ‘quitting Neighbours was stupid’

Stefan Dennis has admitted that he was stupid to quit Neighbours in the 90’s.

Stefan gave up the chance to play Paul Robinson on the Australian show in 1992, so that he could pursue more high profile roles.

Dennis told TV Week: “I was stupid. I thought I was going to go to Hollywood and conquer the world, and I didn’t. Fortunately, I worked constantly in the UK for the 12 years I was gone.”

Coronation Street: Jennie McAlpine ‘Christmas scenes are very dramatic!’

Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine has admitted that this year’s Christmas episodes will be very dramatic.

Jennie plays Fiz on the show and is currently filming the festive scenes. She told RTE:

“What can I say? It is dramatic, really dramatic, but I think it’s going to be really, really traditional Corrie, in that there’s real high drama over the Christmas, but then real farcical comedy as well. Christmas Eve is very funny.”

Coronation Street: Katherine Kelly says The Croppers were the making of Becky

Katherine Kelly has credited Coronation Street’s Roy and Hayley Cropper, for the success of her character on the soap.

Kelly told ATV news network: “The Croppers were the making of Becky, and without them I actually don’t think Becky would still be in the show. The Croppers, especially Roy, were the thing that really turned public opinion [about Becky] around to being positive.

Coronation Street: David Neilson ‘Roy Cropper is very different’

Coronation Street star David Neilson has said that Roy Cropper is very different now, to how he started off in the show.

Speaking to ATV News Network, Neilson explained: “I was recently watching some footage they’d put up on the Coronation Street website of Roy when he was first in the show and [I realised] he’s very different to the way he is now. He was very up in the air and ‘pleased to meet you’ and very smiley in the beginning. And his Northern accent was a lot stronger!

Corrie’s Ryan Thomas and Tina O’Brien have separated

Corrie actors Ryan Thomas and Tina O’Brien – who played on-screen husband and wife – have split up after what the Sunday People describes as “a series of bitter rows.”

According to the paper’s report, Tina left the couple’s home with their one-year-old daughter Scarlett last week and sources close to the couple reckon she “has no plans to return.”

One of those sources told the paper, “They can’t stand the sight of each other. There’s not much hope of them getting back together.

“It’s completely over between them. Ryan and Tina have always had a fiery relationship, although deep down everyone thought they would spend the rest of their lives together… Read more & comment »

Corrie’s Ryan Thomas in drink-drive incident

Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas – who plays Jason Grimshaw in the show – has apparently been questioned by police in connection with a drink-drive collision.

25-year-old Ryan was reportedly quizzed over the incident – which took place in the early hours of last Saturday morning – when a car hit a lamp-post in Manchester city centre.

According to the PA, another man was arrested at the scene and was later charged with “driving while under the influence of drink or drugs”. Read more & comment »
