E! is reporting that the former ‘One Tree Hill’ star has just signed on to be a series regular in Marvel’s brand new series ‘Agent Carter’ set to air on ABC.
According to Marvel, the ‘A Cinderella Story’ actor will be playing the character Jack Thompson, who is a Strategic Scientific Reserve Agent. Reportedly, Murray will be filming a lot of scenes with Hayley Atwell’s character, Agent Peggy Carter, as she undertakes a new job in New York at the Strategic Scientific Reserve.
Also joining the new ABC show is up and comer Enver Gjokaj, who you may recognise from ‘Dollhouse’, who will also be joining the new show as a series regular.
For those who are yet to hear about Marvel’s newest show, ‘Agent Carter’ is set a year after the film ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’. As fans may remember, the film ended at the end of WWII in 1946, where, Agent Peggy Carter was left to deal with some pretty sexist attitudes.
In the new show, Carter will be undergoing some top secret missions for Howard Stark, as well as juggling single life in the big city and dealing with the loss of Captain America (Steve Rogers).
Also confirmed for the show is ‘Mamma Mia!’ actor Dominic Cooper, who will be playing Howard Stark. Stark is the father of familiar face Tony Stark, who is the founding member of S.H.I.E.L.D and has worked on various government projects dating back to the World War II era.
Already rumoured to be on-board for directing duties are ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ directors, the Russo brothers, and ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ director Joe Johnston.
Showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters previously revealed to IGN that writing for the show would be taking place this month, whilst filming is set to begin sometime in September.
‘Agent Carter’ is set to debut mid-season on ABC on Tuesday nights at 9pm.
