Chaka Khan & Gok Wan on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross

Tonight on BBC One in the last show of the current series of Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, legendary disco soul diva Chaka Khan talks about her own troubled past and why people should try to understand Amy Winehouse.

Chaka tells Jonathan: “She reminds me of myself. I love her. Be really nice to her because she needs a lot of love and support.”

Chaka also talks about her own experience of being sober for four years. “Rehab is boring,” she says. “I thought I’d done the wrong thing, then you find out what life [really] is. For three months everything could make me cry.”

She also reveals her thoughts on Barack Obama. “There couldn’t be a worse time for a black man to run for President because he’s got the war to deal with, it’s a bad situation: my heart goes out to him.”

Style guru Gok Wan says he’s turning his attention to men next and he wants to give Jonathan a makeover. “I want to get you in front of those mirrors,” he says.

Jonathan also chats with Hollywood star Steve Carell and there’s music from Primal Scream.
