Yes, I know we’re not even past Christmas yet, but for those who suffer post-yuletide blues, here’s something to cheer you up in advance…
A look at the highlights on Channel 4 in the first week of 2012.
It begins with new and high stakes game show, The Bank Job, which is hosted by the gorgeous George Lamb, whose equally gorgeous dad is former EastEnder, Larry Lamb.
Moving quickly on before I go there – the whole dad son ménage a trois thing – the new show begins on the 2nd January at 10pm, and will air over five consecutive nights. You can read all about it here…
On the same night is a show I’m really looking forward to – The Channel 4 Mash Up, which will see a host of C4’s stars swapping roles. Airing at 6:30pm – and to celebrate 30 glorious years of Channel 4 – we’ll see Davina McCall playing rather than hosting The Million Pound Drop, while Kirstie Allsopp shows Alan Carr the Location, Location, Location ropes.
Channel 4 News presenters head for River Cottage, where they’ll wait on a very special dinner party, while Jimmy Carr hosts Countdown.
Then, on Tuesday 3rd at 8pm, it’s time to put your money where your mouth is over that New Year’s resolution to slim down and tone up…
Yes, The Fat Fighters are debuting their regimes to throw off your life of sloth and gluttony to turn into a whole new you. One who can walk up the stairs without needing a fag to recover.
The trainers are, Matt Miller, Dalia Mikneviciute – yep, I have no idea how to say that either; let’s just call her Dal – Dan Corbett and Tamaya Adams, who, as far as I know, is no relation to Grizzly.
And o joy of joys, on Wednesday, 4th January at 9pm, One Born Every Minute is back for a new twelve part run.
And as ever in this BAFTA award winning series, the main joy in viewing for me is knowing that, barring a very big star in the East, it will never, ever, be me again.
But I’ll watch entranced as women push shove and heave the next generation into the world, while their partners – most often – hang about being as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
It’s sure to be heart warming, scary and inspirational, as always.
What’s going to be your New Year highlight out of that lot?
