Channel 4 commission ‘My New Home’
Channel 4 have today announced that they’ve commissioned a new show with the working title of ‘My New Home’ which will feature compulsive hoarders being given help to clear out and “de-clutter” their homes – and lives – and even making a few quid into the bargain!
The press release states that the show will feature “out-of-control consumers whose quality of life is being buried under their mounds of excessive, but potentially valuable possessions.”
Antiques expert Nick Allen will be on hand to sort through the various clutter and decide what can be sold and what should simply be binned.
Then, once the person’s house is cleared of their hoarded goods, interior designer Abigail Ahern will set to and transform the house “in a way that reflects the character and personality of the hoarders.”
The show has been commissioned by Channel 4’s Andrew Jackson, who said of it, “After decades of buy, buy, buy I think we’re all a little fed up of the stuff we’ve amassed…
“So it’s time to sell, sell, sell. This show is the ultimate spring clean of crap & clutter and where’s there’s muck, hopefully there’s brass.
“I really hope that week after week Nick digs out diamonds in the rough to give Abigail all the cash she needs to give our shopaholic hoarders the makeover they need and the new life they crave.”
In the states, a similar show on TLC, which is entitled, Hoarders: Buried Alive, has proven to be one of the network’s most popular shows.
Here’s a montage of clips from the show…
