It’s been reported today that Channel 4 is to air a show in which a dead hippo is eaten by other animals as it decomposes in a river.

The 90-minute show, entitled, Hippo: Wild Feast Live, is to air on November 7th however, viewers can also watch the brutal action at Channel4.com/hippo.

The Sun reports that the hippo, which was shot dead in Zambia earlier this week after it terrorised a village, was dropped into the Luangwa river, where lions, leopards, crocodiles and hyenas will feast on the carcass.

The paper adds, “Tiny sensors will also be attached to INSECTS released nearby to show how far they carry the hippo’s flesh.”

The show’s commissioning editor, Tanya Shaw, said, “We are dealing with wildlife at its most raw.

“It will be fascinating.”
