Channel 4 to be sued by Ryanair over Dispatches documentary, Secrets from the cockpit!
After the damaging Dispatches documentary, Secrets from the cockpit, Ryanair is suing Channel 4, the Metro reports!
Secrets form the cockpit focused on safety concerns over the budget airline as well as exposing alleged anonymous pilots who claimed that the company’s fuel policy had resulted in at least three incidents when pilots were forced to raise emergency alerts as their planes were too low on fuel for the journey they were on.
It went on to claim that the results of a survey carried out by the Ryaniar Pilot Group found that 90% of its pilots and first officers had issues regarding safety, despite the airline saying that it has an ‘outstanding 29-year safety record’.
However according to Ryanair the documentary, broadcast on 12th August, was “false and defamatory” and based on ‘nothing more than anonymous hearsay’ and are planning to sue the network in a counter strike.
A spokesperson for the airline told the Metro: “Ryanair has instructed its lawyers to issue legal proceedings against Channel 4 Dispatches for defamation.
“Ryanair looks forward to this matter being resolved in the courts and the safety of Ryanair’s operations being thoroughly vindicated.”
Channel 4 has responded to the lawsuit, saying that it stands by its journalism.
