Channel 4+1 Launches Today

I have Freeview, I know you can all laugh but up until now I haven’t needed any more than that. I have succumbed though and my all new Sky+ box will be installed on Thursday. Anyway, I’m digressing….

As I said, I have freeview. So when I go to Channel 14, I expect to see E4. I expect to watch Big Brother live, or last night’s Big Brother’s Little Brother, with the delectable Dermot O’Leary. I do not expect to see Channel 4 programmes an hour old!

It took me at least 10 minutes to find where E4 had moved to (channel 30 by the way) only to find that it had switched from BB to a really old episode of Friends that I have seen at least 100 times.

So Channel 4 has launched a new channel on Freeviews channel 14. It is inspirationally called Channel 4+1, because it mirrors its parent channel but an hour behind. I wonder where they got that idea from?

Channel 4 noted: “You’ll never miss your favourite programme again.”

The new offering is available on Freeview, as well as other digital services and will correlate with a changing of channel numbers for Channel 4’s network.

On Sky, +1 will be 135, E4 will be 136, followed by E4+1 on 137 and More4 and More4+1 on 138 and 139 respectively.

How exciting!
