Eastenders actress, Cheryl Fergison, has revealed that she thinks Eastenders success at this weeks Inside Soap Awards because it manages to mix comic and tragic storylines so skillfully.

The actress, who won the Funniest Performance gong for her portrayal of Heather Trott, told MSN: “I think we’ve been quite consistent. We’ve got quite a strong storyline at the moment with the child thing going on.

“I think it is a mixture of funny and tragic stuff. Even from back to revealing Stacey and Max’s affair right the way through to… karaoke, my wedding – that was a bit farcical! It’s had its ups and downs but it’s been quite consistent I think. I think that’s why we’ve done pretty well.”

On her own award, Fergison said: “It’s brilliant. I’m really honoured. Thank you to the viewers because they are the ones who have chosen me! Which I can’t believe, so this is just brilliant.

“I was really shocked. There are some great people nominated for this award, There are a lot of funny people around. It’s a great honour – I have to say.”
