On the Official Singles Chart this week it’s congratulations to Cheryl who has scored her fifth UK Number (1) with her new single ‘I Don’t Care’.
Meanwhile over on the Official Albums Chart Ed Sheeran has returned to the top once again with his smash-hit album ‘X’. Continue reading for more on both charts.
First up, on the Official Singles Chart it has been revealed that now Cheryl has returned to the Number (1) spot she now holds the record for the most chart-topping singles (five) for a British female artist, overtaking Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora with four each.
For Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ which topped the chart last week it slides into Number (2) but has still broken the record for most audio streams in a week with 1,638,000 in the last seven days – previously held by Mr Probz’s ‘Waves’ which had 1,632,000 streams.
Meghan Trainor is at Number (3) with ‘All About That Bass’ while John Legend soars 26 places to Number (4) with ‘All Of Me’. Finally, Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ finishes at Number (5) on the Official Singles Chart this week.
Outside the Top 5 it’s been confirmed that Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris is at Number (6) with ‘Outside’ featuring vocals from Ellie Goulding and is lifted from his new album ‘Motion’.
At Number (21) is British musician Tom Odell with his second UK Top 40 hit ‘Real Love’ which features on this year’s John Lewis Christmas commercial and was originally released by John Lennon back in 1988 for his documentary ‘Imagine: John Lennon’.
Finally The Script are at Number (26) with ‘No Good In Goodbye’ which is lifted from their latest album, ‘No Sound Without Silence’ while Nicki Minaj is at Number (35) with ‘Only’ featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown.
Over on the Official Albums Chart it’s Ed Sheeran who scores the Number (1) with his new album ‘X’ and of course, this isn’t the first time the British musician has topped the chart with this release. The first time around he spent eight weeks at the top.
For Calvin Harris he narrowly misses out on the top spot with his new release ‘Motion’ which is at Number (2) while Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ is at Number (3). Andre Rieu is at Number (4) with ‘Love In Venice’ while Sam Smith completes the Top 5 with ‘In The Lonely Hour’.
John Legend climbs 83 places to Number (6) with ‘Love In The Future’, Damien Rice is at Number (7) with ‘My Favourite Faded Fantasy’, Simple Minds are at Number (12) with ‘Big Music and The Who are at Number (15) with ‘The Who Hits 50!’.
Finally Bob Dylan & The Band’s ‘The Basement Tapes’ is new at Number (17), London rapper Fuse ODG is at Number (25) with debut release’ Tina’ and Knife Party are at Number (39) with their debut release ‘Abandon Ship’.
