Christine Bleakley Gets First BBC Pay Cut

Christine Bleakley has become the first star to fall foul of the BBC’s new pay policy.

Christine renewed her contract for the channel’s One Show this week, but it is thought that her £100,000 wage was reduced somewhat.

A source told The Sun: “The BBC played serious hardball over this — their view was that nobody is worth holding on to at any cost any more.

“They figure there are plenty of stars out there who can replace people who demand too much.

“Christine is happy doing The One Show and is realistic about the financial pressures the BBC is facing in the current climate.”

Christine is unlikely to be the last presenter to face a cut, in fact anyone renewing their contract with the BBC this year is likely to at least have their pay frozen, if not reduced. However if they think they can jump ship they may be disappointed. ITV are cutting wages too, with even their biggest stars such as Ant and Dec facing a reduction in salary. Hard times to be in TV eh?
