Christmas TV: Still Open All Hours returns, with Sir David Jason as all grown up Granville!
Some twenty-eight years after the broadcast of the very last episode of Roy Clarke’s hugely popular sitcom Open All Hours, comes a brand new episode, Still Open All Hours, which airs on Boxing Day at 7.45pm on BBC1…
Sir David Jason heads the cast as Granville, who inherited the shop from his beloved but miserly Uncle Arkwright, who was of course played by comic legend, Ronnie Barker.
Granville now runs the shop with his son Leroy – who’s played by James Baxter – who’s a cheerful, good-looking lad with more female admirers than Granville ever had!
However, while Granville sees him as a humble shop assistant, Leroy sees himself as the head of IT.
Granville has brought up Leroy on his own – but with the help of a lot of the local women – after he arrived on the doorstep as the surprise result of a one night stand in Blackpool 25 years ago.
The episode follows a day in the life of the shop and its customers including retired Nurse Gladys Emmanuel (Lynda Barron) and the Black Widow (Stephanie Cole).
In it, we’ll see that Granville attempts to get a date with old flame Mavis (Maggie Ollerenshaw) without her terrifying sister Madge finding out, while Leroy shuns the old delivery bike and finds an altogether more attractive way to deliver the orders…
And Leroy’s got a sneaky new plan to shift a lot of anchovy paste that has some rather surprising side effects!
Here’s a look at the show’s trailer…
