City Lights: Family Troubles!

Relations are very much fraught between the married couples and their children: Howie (Mark Benton) and Pauline (Sian Reeves) continue to drift apart and Colin (Robson Green) is still in the dog house with Jackie (Nicola Stephenson) over his ex-wife. However Jackie soon thaws when Colin (egged on by Liam – Lee Worswick), Leyton (Alex Rimmer), and Howie finds himself bouncing off a trampoline and ending up in a crumpled heap on next door’s greenhouse, accused of being a peeping Tom.

Sweeney (Paul Ritter), still holed up in his caravan, turns the screws on Tate (Nicholas Gleaves) via Hatton (Neil Bell) and Gully (Ben McKay). With no-one to turn to, a desperate Pauline finds herself phoning Tate, who, hardly believing his luck, drives straight down to London to meet her. Pauline pours her heart out to him, whilst Tate struggles to extract precise information as to the boys’ whereabouts.

Colin and Howie’s first (and last) day at a temporary gardening job ends terribly when they discover that Pauline has gone missing, presumed kidnapped, and the families endure an agonising wait for a phone call. Pauline is actually with Tate, her mobile turned off, growing closer and closer to him. But when Pauline finally gets in contact with Howie, surrounded by a specialist police kidnap team listening in to the call, the news isn’t good. She doesn’t think she loves him anymore.
